Frequently Asked Questions

Services Offered

We offer a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse needs of our clients. These include in-home speech therapy interventions, online or in-home speech therapy consultations, and primary school tutoring sessions available both online and in-home. Additionally, we provide professional development sessions for teachers at schools, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to support their students effectively. Our programs are carefully tailored to each individual’s needs and are grounded in evidence-based practices, ensuring optimal learning outcomes and measurable progress.

Appointment Process

Booking an appointment with us is simple and efficient. To get started, simply complete the online form under the "Contact" tab. Felicity will review your submission and respond to you via email as soon as possible. If your referral is appropriate for her expertise, she will send you a more detailed referral form to fill out, allowing her to gain a better understanding of your child's communication needs. Once the form is received, Felicity will arrange a time to meet for an initial consultation. If, after reviewing the referral, Felicity determines that the issue falls outside her area of expertise, she will provide recommendations for other professionals who may be better suited to assist you.

If there is a full caseload at Speech For the Stars or your child is on a waiting list with another provider, Felicity offers a unique one-time service. She will visit your home to conduct a comprehensive assessment of your child's communication needs and provide parents with tailored strategies to support their child's development while awaiting formal therapy services.

Payment Methods Accepted

At Speech for The Stars, we follow the NDIS Price Guide for all clients. Therapy sessions are billed at $193.99 per hour. This includes 45 minutes of direct therapy and 15 minutes of additional administrative tasks (such as session planning, collating of resources for home practice, follow up with other professionals or services). Please note that standardised assessments and reports will incur additional fees.

Speech for The Stars offers a variety of funding options to assist you in accessing speech pathology services for your child:

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Speech For The Stars accepts NDIS participants who have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funds. We can assist you to access the scheme by providing you with reports and supporting documentation.

Medicare

Medicare provides a rebate for allied health services under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. Through this plan your child may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 5 speech pathology services per calendar year. For more information or to determine your child’s eligibility, please contact your GP.

Private Health Fund

Speech Pathology assessment and therapy services can be claimed through private health insurance under extras cover. The rebate amount and number of sessions covered will be dependent on the health fund and individual level of cover. Please consult your private health fund for further information.

Travel Fees

Mobile services will incur an additional travel fee dependent on your location.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that you are required to cancel an appointment, you must notify us via phone 48 hours (2 business days) prior to your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee. In the event that you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours (2 business days) notice or you are a ‘no show’ for the appointment, you will be charged 100% of the full consultation fee. Outstanding cancellation fees must be paid to maintain ongoing services.

Please note: We do not accept NDIA-managed participants.

Limitations to our Services

At this time, Felicity is employed full-time at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School as both a speech therapist and primary teacher. As a result, she is unable to provide services to any children attending this school. Additionally, due to her full-time commitments, Felicity is unable to make school visits. While Felicity’s expertise allows her to effectively address speech and language communication breakdowns, she recognizes the limitations of her practice. She is skilled in identifying issues related to voice, fluency, and swallowing communication breakdowns but is not able to treat these specific concerns. In such cases, Felicity is committed to referring clients to a specialist speech pathologist who is equipped to manage these areas.
